PUKAR runs an 11-month long group research diploma course accredited by the Centre for Life-Long Learning, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai). The course is an opportunity to understand and practice “participatory research.” PUKAR provides mentoring and research-related support throughout the year. The course is designed for youth who are currently working or studying but are passionate about doing something constructive in their available time. Students are required to work in a group and have the freedom to choose their research topic with the consultation of PUKAR facilitators. PUKAR believes that anyone and everyone can do research; in fact, we strongly advocate that it should be the right of every individual. Specifically, we believe that “participatory research” holds huge potential to change our society and build a cadre of collaborative leaders. Therefore, the overall aim of this course is to transform individuals and communities into critical thinking beings. Currently, the course is located and functioning in Mumbai. We accept applications from groups based in Greater Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan-Dombivali, Vasai-Virar, Bhiwandi, Mira-Bhayandar, Panvel, Karjat -Khopoli and Palghar only. TISS accreditation means that the course is recognised and acknowledged by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. It also means that a successful candidate will receive a certificate jointly signed by TISS and PUKAR. No. All the workshops and group meetings will be held in Bandra and Kharghar or any other meeting place as decided in consultation with group members and facilitators. Each workshop is conducted by different resource persons. Some sessions will be conducted by faculty members of TISS. You will have a research project compiled by your group and will be trained in participatory research. At the end of the year, each student will receive an individual certificate for the successful completion of the research program. However, we have strict rules about students’ participation and attendance during various activities in the year. Only those students who meet these requirements will receive a certificate. CBPAR ११ महीने का ग्रुप रिसर्च प्रोग्राम है| इस प्रोग्राम में ‘पार्टिसिपेटरी रिसर्च’ सीखने का मौका मिलता है, यह प्रोग्राम TISS के साथ जुड़कर एक सर्टिफिकेट कोर्स भी है| इस प्रोग्राम में पुकार रिसर्च से सम्बंधित हर तरह का मार्गदर्शन और सहायता साल भर के लिए दी जाती है| यह प्रोग्राम यूथ के लिए है जो अपनी पढाई और काम के साथ कुछ नया सीखने में उत्सुकता रखते हैं| पुकार मानता है की हर एक व्यक्ति रिसर्च कर सकता/ सकती है और रिसर्च सबका अधिकार है | अगर रिसर्च सहभागिता पद्धति से किया जाये तो समाज में बदलाव लाया जा सकता है और रिसर्च का इस्तमाल नौजवान युवा पीढ़ी को बदलाव करने के लिए प्रेरित करता है| इसलिए पिछले १७ सालों से पुकार ‘ यूथ फ़ेलोशिप प्रोजेक्ट’ के माध्यम से मुंबई शहर और आसपास के इलाके में संशोधन प्रकल्प कर रही है | यह CBPAR कोर्स अब TISS के साथ जुड़कर डिप्लोमा / सर्टिफिकेट कोर्स है | सारे ट्रेनिंग और स्वरुप पहले जैसे ही होगी पर हर ग्रुप के सदस्य को असाइनमेंट्स और Online app के ऊपर काम करना आवश्यक है | नहीं, कार्यशाला सम्बंधित सारी मीटिंग्स बांद्रा और खारघर या फिर किसी और जगह जो सबकी सहमती से चुनी गई हो वही पर होगी| हर कार्यशाला अलग व्यक्ति द्वारा ली जाती है जैसे की सामाजिक विषयों पर काम करने वाले कार्यकर्ता, किसी सामाजिक संस्था के चालक, विविध विषयों पर ज्ञान प्राप्त की हुई व्यक्ति आदि | कुछ कार्यशालाओ के लिए TISS के अध्यापको को भी बुलाया जा सकता है| कोर्स में आपकी उपस्तिथि जरुरी है और जब आप पूरी प्रक्रिया को सफलता पूर्वक पूरा करने पर आपको PUKAR की तरफ़ से TISS से मान्यता प्राप्त एक प्रमाण पत्र दिया जाएगा| फ़ेलोशिप के अंत में आपके ग्रुप द्वारा लिखी गयी रिसर्च रिपोर्ट आपके पास होगी और आप सामाजिक रिसर्च में प्रशिक्षित होंगे | You can only apply through online mode. Having a group of at least 8 to 10 members is a mandatory criterion. Your application will not be considered if you don’t have a group of 8-10 members at the time of applying. However, if you have at least 5-6 members and if you are in the process of connecting with more members, we may consider your application. However, it is mandatory to have the whole group at the time of the interview process. No, English is not at all necessary. All the training and coordination will be conducted in Hindi. We always encourage students to express themselves in the language they are most comfortable in. Each member of the group should have completed class 10 to be able to apply for the certificate course and 12 for the diploma course. Enthusiasm, curiosity and time commitment are expected from each applicant. PUKAR has generated financial support for this course which means all costs related to residential training, full-day sessions, research fund, public events etc will be paid by PUKAR. Each student will be required to pay 3,000 rupees for the TISS registration. However, in case any student can’t pay this amount, we encourage them to write to us for financial support. No, it is not a full-time course. Groups are expected to attend one day workshops in selected months. All the training will happen only on Sundays either in Bandra or at Kharghar. Groups are expected to meet twice a month for their own regular updates and planning. A facilitator, assigned to each group, will meet with each group twice a month. No. PUKAR does not provide any individual remuneration, stipend or allowances. However, PUKAR understands that conducting research is an expensive process. Therefore, we have arranged a small research fund for each group. The research fund is a limited financial amount given by PUKAR to each research group. This amount is mandated to use for research purposes only. All the basic expenses need to be covered by this amount. PUKAR will transfer this amount in equal instalments, thrice a year upon the successful completion of each phase. This year research funds will be given based on actual expenses incurred by the group. PUKAR किसी को भी व्यक्तिगत फण्ड या वेतन नहीं देती है| परन्तु PUKAR यह समझती या समझता है, की रिसर्च एक खर्चीली प्रक्रिया है| इसलिए हर ग्रुप को एक रिसर्च फण्ड दिया जाएगा| रिसर्च फण्ड एक सीमित राशी है जो हर चुने हुए ग्रुप को दी जाती है| इसका इस्तेमाल रिसर्च के काम के लिए ही किया जाना चाहिए| सारे सामान्य खर्चे इस में से करने है| PUKAR इस राशी को टुकडो में देगा, यानी साल में २ बार फेज के सफलता पूर्वक ख़तम हो जाने पर और जरुरी कार्य पुरे होनेपर| इस साल का रिसर्च के खर्च की मर्यादा २०,००० रूपये तक सिमित है, जिसके लिए आपके ग्रुप के खर्चे का अकाउंट, बिल के साथ जमा करना होगा | हाँ, TISS के कोर्स के लिए आपके ग्रुप के सदस्य १८ से ३५ उम्र तक होने चाहिए| लेकिन पुकार के कोर्स के लिए १८ से ३५ तक आयु होनी चाहिए | This course is a carefully designed program where each individual will go through an intense process of self-exploration, understanding and practising ‘participatory research’ and group work. This course emphasizes core components of self-development (namely communication, participation, teamwork, collaborative leadership and critical thinking). Perspective building sessions on important concepts like caste, religion, gender and governance will also be conducted. Overall, it is an experiential learning process where equal importance is given to learning skills/concepts in the workshop settings and testing/practising those in the field. “Praxis” is an integral part of this course. At the end, each group will produce an original research report which will be showcased on various platforms. Your group will decide the topic in consultation with PUKAR facilitators. The topic should be linked with your own community and your life experiences. No need to have a prior final topic for selection in the process. Yes.
